Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes

For the second night in a row, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes took to the stage at London’s iconic Roundhouse, marking the end of their UK leg of the tour with a sold-out show.

Their set, divided into 3 acts and an epilogue, featured primarily songs from the band’s latest studio album, Dark Rainbow. The fact that Dark Rainbow was only released a few weeks prior didn’t stop the audience from chanting along to all of its songs, leaving frontman Frank Carter in awe of the sights and filled with gratitude, which he expressed throughout the evening.

If you’ve attended a Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes show before, you would have rightfully expected a punk rock theme for the night. However, in a complete change of style, the band emerged on stage dressed in black suits, giving a much more romantic and elegant look than anyone could have expected.

Alongside Dark Rainbow’s overall vibe, which gives stage to heartfelt ballads, this new look-and-feel surprisingly worked, and it didn’t seem to have bothered the mosh-pitters and crowd surfers one bit.

A nice surprise was the guest appearance of Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, who joined Frank on vocals to perform “Original Sin,” a song he recorded with the band on their Sticky album released in 2021. This was followed by the most non-love-songy love song, “I Hate You,” driving the 800 attendees to burst into a perfectly timed singalong preceding the cathartic finale “Man of the Hour,” drawing the night to a close.

The band will proceed with their European tour throughout February, followed by six dates in Australia during April and six more across North America throughout May.
