Travie McCoy – Keep On Keeping On
Words by Jessica Klinner

Travie McCoy is the king of collaborations. From Jason Mraz to Bruno Mars, McCoy has worked with countless musicians on tracks that have gone on to be huge hits. On Monday, McCoy released his brand new single, “Keep On Keeping On,” featuring Panic! At The Disco’s charismatic frontman Brendon Urie. The track is the second single from McCoy’s upcoming sophomore solo album, Rough Water.

The first few seconds might have you thinking that you clicked on the wrong song with an unknown voice singing over soulful, big band-esque instruments. This slightly confusing intro gradually fades and transforms into Urie’s catchy hook. McCoy’s rap verses are split up by Urie’s spot on vocals. Not only is the song super catchy, but it also sends a positive message about persevering through tough times. It seems that the song could be autobiographical of McCoy’s life, but as with most songs, it’s difficult to tell whether he is pulling from personal experiences or drawing from someone else’s. Whatever the case is here, “Keep On Keeping On” is a refreshing song that sends a great message.

Look out for this song to hit the airwaves very soon. It’s guaranteed to hold radio time for the next few months. Are we looking at the new song of the summer?
