How did you form?
We first met in a club in Coventry at the age of 16 and 17. We sang together and realized that there was something different about the way our voices gelled together, since then we’ve never looked back…

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Sitting here talking to you! But apart from that, if we really had to pick one it’d be the invite we received to open for The Specials at the Ricoh Arena. It was our hometown stadium, 10,000 people and the atmosphere was brilliant…That’s definitely up there in our books.

Why should people listen to your music? What makes you different?
We judge a gig by how many heads we turn, we’ve always won people over and that’s always our goal before we go on stage. What makes us different? If you saw us, you’d know. We aren’t tied down to one genre, we’ve made our own – ‘Modern Retro’.  There’s a foundation of 60’s music like The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel – big harmonies and acoustic guitars, but then there’s this modern twist that reminds you of people like Arctic Monkeys or Mumford & Sons. If you mix those four bands together, you get Malik & Pettite.
