Review: Trash Boat, Brainwork

Trash Boat is a five piece pop-punk band from the UK on Hopeless Records. Recently UK bands are getting more and more attention here in the states with bands like Neck Deep and Roam making names for themselves stateside. Trash Boat would be damned if they let themselves be forgotten and that is precisely what Brainwork their first EP with Hopeless is doing. Drawing heavily from the more punk bands in the scene like The Story So Far, The Movielife, and Such Gold; Trash Boat is most certainly a pop-punk band. With melodic choruses and hard hitting verses they keep you coming back for more. Their single “Perspective” is heart-felt honesty. Lyrically Trash Boat has released a solid album, it’s introspective and memorable. Singing songs about their past, present, and future just like every one of the big hitters in the pop-punk scene.  Brainwork is a great EP from Trash Boat it’s short, sweet and leaves me begging for more. Especially tracks like “Perspective” and “Eleven” have the perfect blend of what you look for in modern pop-punk. Fast verses and heart felt relatable lyrics that are sure to be screamed along with at shows. Trash Boats Brainwork is a must listen if you like new pop-punk, however at times the EP can feel a bit standard and reminiscent of everything else that is out right now. But I definitely look forward to seeing the band progress over the up and coming years and releases, they will surely be one to watch.
