On Wednesday, June 5th Rainbow Kitten Surprise performed at the Fox Theatre. Rainbow Kitten Surprise is an alternative rock indie band, featuring lead vocalist Sam Melo, guitarists Darrick Keller and Ethan Goodpaster, drummer Jess Haney and bassist Charlie Holt.
To kick off the night, Rainbow Kitten Surprise performed “When It Lands,” a song from their latest album, How to: Friend, Love, Freefall, which was released in early August of last year. Throughout the night, Sam was showing off his contemporary dance moves on stage while singing each song. The band interacts a great deal with each other during their performance, and you can really see how much they enjoy playing together.
This was the band’s second of two shows in Oakland and many dedicated fans were in attendance both nights. The enthusiastic crowd was having a wonderful time singing and dancing along to every song.
Rainbow Kitten Surprise concerts include a beautiful lighting display and a fog machine, which adds an additional element to their performance. For an encore, they performed four songs. To end their hour and a half set they showcased “Run,” a song from their second album, Rks, which was released back in 2015.
