Sara Bareilles played a 90-minute set at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, switching between a piano and acoustic guitar while nursing a whiskey and joking with audience members. Bareilles delighted fans by playing several new songs off of her upcoming release, Amidst the Chaos, due out in April including “Armor”, “If I Can’t Have You”, “Eyes on You”, “No Such Thing”, and “Miss Simone”. And of course, Bareilles treated the audience that night to a performance of her 2007 breakout hit, “Love Song”.
The intimate venue made for a perfect setting for Bareilles to talk about her inspiration for her upcoming album which included a new love in her life, the 2016 Women’s March, the 2016 election and the Obama family– one of her biggest obsessions. This reference hit all too well with the Chicago crowd.
While Bareilles’ A Little Chaos Tour was only four dates, it was the first time fans had a chance to see her live since her time on Broadway starring and scoring Waitress which earned rave reviews and Tony and Grammy nominations. Bareilles added “She Used to Be Mine” from the production to her performance that night. This short, but sweet tour gave fans a taste of Bareilles’ next chapter and what we can expect from her brand new album, Amidst the Chaos.
