Behind The Song: Julia Nunes, “Something Bad”

Everyone has been though it, the post-breakup self inflicting drama in the form of doubt and over-analyzing social media. Singer/songwriter Julia Nunes is no stranger to these feelings. Recently, Julia sat down with us to chat about her track, “Something Bad” and what it means to her.

This song is about pushing the self destruct button. Simultaneously trying to amplify and mute the pain of a break up. We’re all such idiots when we’re heart broken. Like yeah duh don’t stalk you ex on the Internet buuuuut it’s easier said than done when their stupid face is everywhere. Suddenly you find yourself adhering to every break up cliche you’ve ever rolled your eyes at. It’s such a ridiculous time. Sometimes you laugh about it and some times you take 7 little cry breaks during the first party you’ve attended alone in 5 years. The best part is that there are so many break up songs to freak out to. That’s what we tried to do in the studio. Make something to lose it to. It’s almost celebratory. Almost.
