10 Love Songs To Give You Valentine’s Day Butterflies
Words and Picks by Annette Hansen
Whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day, a good old-fashioned love song is always something to be appreciated. Here is a list of some songs that can melt even the coldest of hearts.
All Time Low – For Baltimore
This song is witty and super cute. This is the perfect not-so-serious love song to give you a smile and to get those butterflies going.
Death Cab For Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark
I loved this song the moment I heard it. The idea of loving someone so much that you would follow them into the darkest places, even into death, has always been a powerful sentiment to me.
Green Day – Church On Sunday
This song is not as fluffy as most of the love songs we’re used to hearing. This song is about perseverance in a long term relationship and about finding that compromise and balance that makes a relationship work.
Hellogoodbye – Here (In Your Arms)
For me this song is sugary sweet and very nostalgic. It reminds me of homecoming dances and high school crushes, so it is a must on this list.
I Fight Dragons – Always
I Fight Dragons have several great love songs, but I wanted pick this song because it captures both the hopefulness and uncertainty of love.
Mae – Just Let Go
This song is about a couple who have everything they need to make it, but one just needs to let go and let their love flourish. I know I can relate to this, plus the lyrics are just beautiful.
The Maine – When I’m At Home
This is probably one of my favorite love songs of all time. “I’ll burn this house down, no need for walls now. When I’m with you I’m at home.” There’s nothing more romantic than being with someone who makes you feel at home no matter where life takes you.
Motion City Soundtrack – Stand Too Close
This song hits me right on the heart strings and just gets me on a personal level. As someone who can be a little hard to put up with, finding someone willing to stick around is really scary and really special.
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
This song just makes me melt every time I hear it, and I hear it almost every day, so yeah, it’s pretty good.
The Used – Smother Me
The Used also have plenty of awesome love songs, but this one is the perfect combination of terribly cute and just slightly twisted; as it should be.
