Dinner and A Suit – Stay EP
Review by Geoff Burns
The Nashville, Tennessee rock band, Dinner And A Suit, is releasing its new EP, Stay. While the band previous full-length album, Since Our Departure, was released in 2012, the band doesn’t show any signs of slowing down with this EP. The most impressive part about Stay is it was entirely recorded live. The EP consists of only four tracks, but none of them demonstrate flaws. Dinner And A Suit start the EP with the song “Can’t Get Enough,” essentially about wanting to get out of a situation you’ve been caught in, but deep down you want to stay involved. Vocalist Jonathan Capeci sings, “All that you said, stuck in my head and it’s bringing me down, yeah it’s bringing me down, running through me like the blood in my veins and I hate the sound, I know I should give it up, but I can’t get enough.” The EP’s highlight is when we hear the track “A Way Out.” An echoed, clean guitar riff electrifies the verses and continues into chorus. While considering how Stay was recorded live, this track demonstrates what Dinner And A Suit is made of musically. Even more so, Capeci’s vocal performance is incredibly clean and professional, showing how much talent the musician actually has. While Stay’s only weakness is that it’s too short, the EP stands as a reminder that Dinner And A Suit is a talented rock band. The release is a powerful EP, and fans should be excited for what comes next from the band.
