It’s time to cause some commotion. Nearly three years after their last album No Good Left To Give, the Southern Californian four-piece Movements is set to release their third full-length album, RUCKUS! Out Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 via Fearless Records, this album is not what current fans may be expecting. It’s still emotional and relatable, yet less dark than their previous work. And there’s more experimenting and branching out in this record, something the band should be proud of for doing so well.

There are ten songs, including five singles, that were released previously to this album’s release date. They are full of emotion and powerful vocals and guitar riffs that will make one want to turn the volume up when listening. The first track, “You’re One Of Us Now,” begins in an unexpected but exciting way as you dive into this record — it just takes a listen to know what it means. In this album opener, not only are strong vocals heard, but the growth in vocalist Patrick Miranda’s voice is also very present. But it doesn’t stop there. The entire band, as a whole and as individual members, has grown musically, and their talents are showcased throughout the record.

The five singles include “Killing Time,” “Lead Pipe,” “Fail You,” “Tightrope” and “Heaven Sent.” For fans already familiar with these singles, they know that the band has gone beyond what they are accustomed to and expanded from what they knew or did in the past. These songs are great examples of what the rest of the album sounds like. It’s like a sneak peek at what the rest of the record holds, all including some pop-punk vibes, sad feels, aggressiveness and potential new future concert crowd favorites.

The band from Southern California did an incredible job on their new record. Movements really knows how to balance out their growth and stick to their roots. Sometimes with these new songs, their first full-length album, Feel Something, can be slightly heard through the instrumentals, keeping the band and fans remembering where they came from. Even a song from this record will give vibes from their last album, No Good Left To Give.

Listeners will be embraced with not feeling alone when it comes to these tracks, as the band still puts some focus on mental health. There is some positivity throughout this record, too. “I Hope You Choke!,” for example, will have fans wanting to jump and scream along at a Movements show. Whatever song from RUCKUS! you resonate with the most, just remember that it’s a new Movements song that will probably be in your favorite playlist for quite some time. Movements went outside the box and created new tunes for many different music listeners to fall in love with. RUCKUS! is the album you’ve been waiting for from this band.
