On April 4, Lights brought her Baby I’m Back Tour to Seattle and introduced her new album PEP to a room full of dedicated fans. Opening up the night was tiLLie, who entertained the crowd with her angst-filled, relatable pop music. tiLLie kicked off her set with “Peachie,” her catchy single she released last year.

The 9-song set also featured a memorable cover performance of the Britney Spears classic “Lucky,” which the Seattle crowd passionately sang along to. tiLLie brought her charismatic set to a close with 2017’s “Save Yourself” and “Loud Mouth,” the title track of her 2019 EP.

Overall, tiLLie’s humble yet spunky stage presence made her the perfect opener for this tour. As a powerhouse of a performer, her painfully personal lyrics set to the background of well-produced pop sounds instantly captured the crowd’s attention and truly captivated them throughout her entire set. There’s no doubt tiLLie walked away with a number of new fans in Seattle.

Lights

Whenever Lights comes through town, it’s always something special. Due to the pandemic, it’s been quite a while since Seattle fans last saw Lights hit the stage. This time around, she brought her new primary-colored era with her – PEP. Although the album had only been out for a few days, fans sang along to some of the new songs as if they’ve known them for years.

Lights reintroduced herself to the Seattle crowd with the opener “Prodigal Daughter,” which set the tone for her to play several new tracks, including the oh-so-catchy single “Salt and Vinegar,” “Real Thing,” and “Grip.”

However, the performance of “Okay Okay” will stand out in both the crowd’s and Lights’ minds for a long time. As soon as the infectious chorus hit, Lights was overwhelmed by how many people already knew the words to the song. When the second chorus came around, she reached the mic out to the audience to sing along, proving that “Okay Okay” has become an instant fan favorite.

Although this tour was in support of PEP, Lights certainly did not forget about her past. In fact, she included songs from every album era, including Little Machines’ “Up We Go” and “Running With The Boys” and Skin & Earth’s “Savage,” “Giants,” and “New Fears.”

Much to many fans’ delight, Lights also included some classics from the Siberia and The Listening eras. For her stripped-down performance of “February Air,” the track that put her on the music map during our Myspace days, the song became as much the fans’ as her own. In fact, she spent the majority of the performance with her mic raised to the crowd, allowing them to show how much the song still means to them after all of these years.

Along with “February Air,” fans were also treated to The Listening tracks “Ice” and “Lions” and Siberia’s “Everybody Breaks A Glass.”

Overall, Lights’ show truly showcased how far along she has come over the years. Her decade-spanning setlist provided the audience with snapshots of all her musical eras while still introducing them to PEP, her bright and vibrant current era.

If Lights’ live performance proved anything, it’s that she is not slowing down anytime soon and has so much more to offer. And without a doubt, Seattle fans will always show up in droves to support her and see what she has up her sleeve next.
