Travis Mills and Nick Gross‘ new band girlfriends will release their debut self-titled album on Oct. 23 via Big Noise.

The album was created with the help of legendary producer John Feldmann and includes girlfriends’ previously released songs “Eyes Wide Shut” and “California.” On the new album, Mills shares:

“This record has been a long time coming,. It encapsulates all of my teenage despair with a perspective I haven’t been able to articulate until these last 5 years. It’s an exercise in honesty, vulnerability, angst and excitement with nostalgia as the glue that holds it all together. This is my journal entry. This is my life. This is girlfriends.”

Mills also previously shared that girlfriends’ music is a result of some difficult times in his life.

“I just had so much to write about. It came from a genuine place. I’d be stressed out, or bawling my eyes out, and the songs would come very organically. If we ever spent more than an hour trying to figure out a hook or a verse, we scrapped it and just kept moving. This project is different from anything else I’ve ever done.”
