Shortly after the release her newest album I Disagree, Sumerian Records-signed artist Poppy has set out on her I Disagree tour that will make its way around the US and UK/EU. With 36 total stops, so many new faces will be able to see her for the first time, and long-term fans who have attended her concerts before will have the opportunity to see her once again. As the tour is fresh, Poppy recently made her second appearance on tour in Portland, Oregon on January 25 at Hawthorne Theatre. This was a sold out show that brought many new and loyal fans together to see what Poppy’s new era is all about. VOWWS, an Australian deathpop duo, is supporting the tour in the states.

A long mirror was placed at the back of the stage, and from seeing fans’ reflections on it, many were curious about the object and what it possibly stood for. But then it was finally Poppy’s turn to be the audience’s main focus, and from being impatient between the two acts, the venue became filled with excitement when the lights descended, creating complete darkness. There were multiple short poles toward the front of the stage in a curved line that began flashing as though they were candles going on and off as they took turns lighting up. “Bury me six feet deep” are the first lyrics sung, from Poppy’s song “Concrete” and the audience immediately screamed enthusiastically and joined in singing along.

Poppy throughout the show wanted the crowd moving and that sparked something in them that made them move around in almost a mosh pit type way. Fans jumped, clapped, and waved their arms throughout the show; there was no stopping of movement throughout the whole performance. It did not help that Poppy herself was full of energy and constantly moving about on stage almost nonstop. She would pose along to the beat of the music in front of the mirror and lights that flashed along with it as well which was intriguing to see for it created an effect of synchrony.

Other songs performed that night were “Scary Mask,” “Am I A Girl?,” and “Sick of the Sun.” She performed not only songs from her latest album released this year, but she went back to her roots from her album, Am I A Girl, from 2018. A cover of t.A.T.u.’s “All The Things She Said” was also in the setlist. The crowd was filled with an emotion that was beyond enthusiasm. There is no doubt that fans were excited to see Poppy sing both her new and previously released songs.

One of the most exciting parts of the show was her encore of “Bite Your Teeth” and “I Disagree” both tracks from her newest album. It was exhilarating for the audience because Poppy became more energetic during these songs, presenting them with a memory of the show they will never forget.

The I Disagree Tour will definitely be an unforgettable tour all the way through. Poppy succeeded in carrying a lively performance that will forever be in fans’ memories. And her show gave off a darker vibe, maybe a cult-like feeling, but do not worry, being present at her show will make one feel blissed.
