Detroit pop-punk group Boys Of Fall have released the follow-up and extended version of their 2018 album, Better Moments, via InVogue Records. The new album, Better Moments: Gold Edition, features all of the original tracks we love as well as two acoustic versions of songs and two brand new tracks.

The opening track “Something to Say” is a catchy, upbeat track that definitely starts the album off the right way. It begins as it did in the past with Michael Martenson telling us he is just a pissed off kid from a town nobody really cares about and our heart gets to beating as we anticipate what is to come. Martenson’s vocals are powerful and commanding throughout. One of my favorites on the album is the track “Arson,” where the band shares a few rap skills, mixed in with their screaming, giving the pop-based song some depth.

While this album is primarily tracks that fans already know and love, it also includes two new acoustic versions of songs that are fan favorites. One of which is the track “Giving Up,” both versions are so good, the original is one of those songs that feels so good to listen to with its poppy groove and singable chorus, but there is just something about the guitar sound that plays on me. Plus in “Giving Up,” the shared vocals of Martenson and Cemer are exceptional. The song is still sing along with worthy, it just feels more personal. Out of all of the songs on the album, this one by far is the one I jam to the most, it is just so good.

The second acoustic song is “No Good For Me.” It’s a bit more than acoustic, but it is a solid song with some great lyrics and a breezy feel to it. The other two new songs on the album are “Fake Smile” and “Smooth Yazz.” All the songs on this album are bops, both old and new, and are tracks you can stand in a crowded venue and sing along to. They get stuck in your head and you will continue to sing them long after the album has ended.

If you are a fan of Boys Of Fall and a fan of the original version of this album than you will love this. And if by chance this is your first listen of Boys Of Fall, you will fall in love with the variety they give to you. Anyone can find a song on this album to love with the diverseness they have provided.

The group is currently on a U.S tour in support of the new album so make sure to go catch them at one of the remaining dates if it is coming through your city.
