Playing to Vapors Introduce Themselves with Debut Single + Video for “Switchblade”

Today Columbus, Ohio quintet Playing to Vapors present the first single, along with its Chance Duffy-directed video, off their forthcoming debut album, Shred the Master Design. On the indie-pop “Switchblade,” the independent band navigate trust issues atop melodic grooves–and its video, keeping with a surveillance theme, looks back on the days of VHS tapes.

The writing process for this song was very collaborative. It started as a guitar riff, and each member continued to add to the song until it grew into not only “Switchblade,” but also into the next track, “Answers.” I think this song serves as a centerpiece for the record as a whole, both in sonic aesthetic and meaning. – vocalist Lucas Harris
