Austin Carlile Departs from Of Mice & Men

0

In a lengthy statement posted to his social media accounts yesterday, Of Mice & Men lead vocalist Austin Carlile announced his departure from the metalcore band. “No longer able to scream most of our old material, or continue to scream on anything new, I cannot continue on,” he wrote, explaining that screaming would cause fluid to rush through the tears in his spinal cord. Carlile, who first publicly shared his struggle with Marfan Syndrome last summer, opened the letter with gratitude for dreams achieved – traveling around the world, collaborating with musical heroes, and being a hero to others. Inspiringly, however, in light of this unimagined “crossroads,” Carlile credits his faith in God for his career and its new direction, seeking to share his story and continuing to write music. Of Mice & Men will continue with vocalist/bassist Aaron Pauley, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and drummer Valentino Arteaga.
