3OH!3 – Night Sports
Review by Annette Hansen

3OH!3 has never taken themselves too seriously, and that’s part of their charm. With the duo’s fourth album, Night Sports, they have not forgotten this critical aspect. With songs ranging from sentimental to downright silly, Night Sports is the product of what 3OH!3 does best: making us want to dance and laugh at the same time.

With the band’s previous release, 2013’s Omens, the band introduced listeners to a more pop and electronic tinged sound. On Night Sports, 3OH!3 have not completely left that behind. Songs like “Give Me Something To Remember” and closer “Hologram” are more thought-provoking pop tracks that would fit in well with the band’s previous effort. But this album is certainly more hip-hop heavy, most notably on tracks “Hear Me Now” and “7-11.” Occasionally though, 3OH!3 manage to blend these two styles effortlessly, particularly on the infectious single “Mad At You.”

Night Sports really encompasses the band’s light-hearted and fun sound. From the R&B laced “Freak Your Mind” to the off-the-wall “BASMF” to the song that speaks to all of our inner sixth-grade boy “My Dick,” it’s hard not to smile and have a blast while listening to this album.
