How did you form?
Nick and I (Chris) ran into each other in Chicago one day, and simply kicked up a conversation when I asked Nick if he was a musician. (He seemed to look the part in the moment). I had known Ben Johnson for about 7 years from playing in other bands with him. Nick and I began writing music, just the two of us, for about a year and flushed out about 10 songs before we pulled Ben Johnson in to complete our line-up and move forward with our first song that we kept from writing as a duo, which was the song “Clouds.”

What has been the highlight of your career?
I (Chris) shoot music videos for a living, and when it came time to create a music video for our band, we were approached by Nikon Camera Company to create a music video to also be used as a featured article on their cameras and my approach to filming. So we went to Electrical Audio in Chicago (one of our dream recording studios) and filmed a live performance. We had our friend Andy step in on bass since I had to film the video, but having creative control over the project was more important for us so I didn’t mind that I wasn’t actually seen in the music video. I was however featured in a behind the scenes video we created about the whole progress of creating this music video and my filmmaking techniques and approach to making music videos. We were incredibly honored to be asked by such a great company to be featured in something so big so early on in this bands musical career.

Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
We make honest music that’s meant to be accessible to most everyone who gives us a listen. Tall Walker doesn’t stay in a certain musical box just to hold on to a certain musical title. The music we make is for people to enjoy and relate to since the songs are written about our experiences and relationships. We wrote about situations we all face day to day and how we dealt with them throughout our first few years of living in Chicago.  However, we write about the hope that we found while navigating through a lot of those dark moments in our lives and mostly tell the story of how we overcame those situations or made them work for our benefit. They’re about love and how love can break you quickly, but also how love can be the only thing that brings you back to life.  We try to write hopeful songs that serve as anthems to get you through your breakup, or serve as a crutch for you to lean on when you’re spinning a bit out of control.  Hopefully to some listeners our songs provide the soundtrack to your life that picks you up and gives you something groovy to listen to before heading out on the town for a wild night.  All that to say, we have a unique lyrical approach and message in our music that faces the ups and downs in life.
