Five Best Albums from “Ex-Members of…”
Words and Picks by Jennifer Boylen

It is always a sad day when one of your favorite bands calls it quits; but when those members announce new projects it’s like a bright light at the end of the break up tunnel.  I have had my fair share of favorite band beak ups. Of course there are tons of others, but I’ve compiled five albums from “ex-band –members” that stuck out in my mind.

Go Radio –  Close The Distance
You can’t hear anything about Go Radio with out the inevitable link to Mayday Parade.  Lead singer, Jason Lancaster, was in Mayday back in the day and moved on to create Go Radio.  Now that they have recently called it quits, time will only tell where these four musicians will end up.  Regardless, Go Radio is my favorite, and so is this record.

Fun. – Some Nights
Fun. May have ‘hit the big time’ recently, but the band has been making music for years. Obviously, fans of The Format knew this already.  This record has been the soundtrack of many long drives over the past couple years and many more to come.

Foo Fighters – Wasting Light
I don’t think there is any one in my generation who doesn’t have the song “Walk” burned into one corner of their brain or another.  Plus, this list would be incomplete without the inclusion of Dave Grohl

 Issues – Black Diamonds
When Issues emerged on the scene, they couldn’t avoid the ‘ex-member’ mentions, because the majority of the group was previously of Woe Is Me.  Although they only have an EP and a single out, they haven’t released anything I haven’t enjoyed.

Pat Brown – In My Room
Pat Brown was the front man of Sing It Loud and before that local bands.  Sing It Loud was one of my favorite bands, and I have since remained a huge fan of Pat Brown.  From Good Problems to touring with and DJ’ing for Mod Sun, he has also put out his own solo EP, and he’s still a favorite.
