Five Albums To Dance Around Your Room To
Words and Picks by Jessica Klinner

When I think of what makes an album great, I usually think of how many tracks on the album make me want to dance. I can in no way, shape, or form dance well. I am the stereotypical white girl who tries so hard to bust a move, but ends up looking really stupid. The music moves me and I just let my body take over, not caring less about who is watching me. We all have those albums we turn to when we want to just let loose and dance around. Here are my go to albums to dance around my room to. Enjoy!

Wallpaper – Ricky Reed Is Real
If you haven’t heard of Wallpaper, stop reading this now and go look them up! I’d like to personally give a shout out to the members of The Summer Set for tweeting constantly this summer telling followers to check out Wallpaper’s set at Warped Tour. If it had not been for their insistent tweets every day, I would have never decided to stop by the Spotify stage at Warped Tour to watch their set. Watching Wallpaper perform changed the way I look at live shows. I have never seen a band more energetic throughout an entire set than they were (and in the heat of the day at that!). For those who haven’t heard of this hip hop/electronic infused band, check out the songs “Drunken Hearts,” “Hesher,” and “Shotgun.”  They’re on tour this fall with 3!OH3, The Summer Set, and New Beat Fund so be sure to go to a show and show them some love!

Justin Timberlake – Justified
Yes, I went there! Who can deny the smooth sounds of a Justin Timberlake record? His voice perfectly mixed with R&B melodies creates the perfect tracks to dance to. And those beat boxing solos? Don’t even get me started! I can’t recall a song of his that doesn’t make me want to dance, and that traces all the way back to the N’SYNC days. As you know, Justified was Timberlake’s first solo album and really launched his career. 11 years after it’s release, this album still rocks and frequently makes my party and road trip playlists!

fun. –  Some Nights
It is literally impossible for me to sit still when listening to this album. It’s such a fun and experimental record! Whenever I listen to it, I’m transported back to seeing them live where all I can see is Nate Ruess jumping around on stage having the time of his life and I can’t help but do the same. The album is not stop and go; it starts and doesn’t let up until the very last second of the last track. Even the slow songs make you want to move! Most of the time I end up punching the air, clapping, and jumping around, but I’m just letting the music move me, yah feel?

Katy Perry –  One Of The Boys
I completely forgot about this album until I began to search for ones to include in this list. Katy Perry has always been my favorite pop queen. This might have to do with the fact that when she was just starting her career, she played on Warped Tour. This album is very different from her newer releases in that it is infused with rock sounds. I can close my eyes and see her singing these songs on a stage at Warped Tour. It also sounds very raw and real unlike her new releases that sound more heavily produced. The songs make me want to grab the nearest object to use a microphone and perform my heart out. It’s a very simple album and reminds me of where it all started for her.

One Direction – Take Me Home
I had to do it, okay? One Direction makes consistently great pop music and dance tracks. Your argument is invalid. However much you claim to hate these guys, there is really no denying their talent and extreme ability to perform these songs with high energy and enthusiasm. If you can listen to “Kiss You” without shaking your butt, there is something wrong with you! I have danced alone in my room and car to this album more times than I’d like to admit. I may be 20 years old, but I still obsess over this group like I was 8 years old again and they were The Backstreet Boys. I’m a sucker for boy bands and always will be. No shame.
