Five Albums for Going Back to School
Words and Picks by Colleen Casey

As a recent college grad, I am going to miss the excitement of making playlists for my to drives to school.  Whether your ride be ten minutes, 30, or an hour, the songs you hear early on are usually the ones that will be stuck in your head throughout the school day.  So whether you’re heading back to junior high, high school, or college, these are some albums I think you will enjoy.

Motion City Soundtrack – Commit This To Memory
When I think of Fall and going back to school, Commit this to Memory always comes to my mind.  It was my go to album when I was in high school.  The fun lyrics and catchy beats are ones that will stick with you and are easily relatable.  Highly recommended songs from this album include, “Everything is Alright,” “Attractive Today,” and “Time Turned Fragile.”

Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the perfect album for when you have to wake up early and need a quick boost of energy.  Seriously use the first 25 seconds of the song 1901 as your alarm and it will have you dancing out of bed to school.  It’s the perfect album to keep you upbeat during a long day.

Chance the Rapper – Acid Rap
If you are looking for some new music this school year to show off to your friends, I highly recommend Chance the Rapper’s Acid Rap.  Chance is on the rise and having played to an insane crowd at Lollapalooza and touring the UK with Eminem, his fame is rapidly growing.  No matter what category you fall into at school whether it is jock, geek, etc., you are going to find yourself humming these songs all throughout the day.

Their / They’re / There – Their / They’re / There EP
For fans of Owen and Into It Over It, be sure to put Their They’re There’s self titled EP on your back to school playlist.  It’s like Evan Weiss and Mike Kinsella can do no wrong in the music scene.

All Time Low – Put Up or Shut Up
I’m a sucker for old school All Time Low, and Put Up or Shut Up has some of my favorite tunes.  I use to blast the songs out of my locker and introduced them to a lot of my classmates. Put Up or Shut Up is one that will have you and your friends singing along to in the parking lot after school.
