How did you form?
Adam and I were both writing and producing music for other artists in Nashville. One day, a friend of mine connected us and wanted to make sure we got together to write. We got there and had no clue what to work on, but I said, “Man, I’ve really been digging the new M83 record,” and it was all over from there. That day, we wrote and recorded our first song, “Temporary High”.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Hearing the track to our song, “Undercover Friends” played on a tv show! It was something on ABC Family, I forget the name of the show, but when it got to our song, it was a big party, and they played the track for a good two or 3 minutes! We also collaborated on a song with an incredible EDM artist out of Atlanta named Popeska. He’s signed to Wolfgang Gartner’s label. We were hanging at Popeska’s SXSW show this year and when he played our song, the crowd went nuts. His scene is a little different than ours, so it was cool to see his fans respond like that.
Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
We’re an alt/electro group that sings about love and outer space. What more could you want? Loud, dark synths, cinematic percussion, vocals that could fight the low notes of The National…and there are a few very happy, catchy melodies in there as well!
