We As Human

Highlight is always excited to bring you the absolute very best artists from the indie music scene; which is why we’re extra excited about this weeks Highlighted Artist.  Nashville, TN is one of the biggest spots in music history; so big, it’s almost become a cliche to say that one is from there.  Somewhere along the sidewalks of Music City however, walks a 5-piece hard rock band that isn’t so, “played out” and is  starting to break the barrier that every band wants to break.  With heavily talented Justin Cordle leading the way on vocals and a strong supporting cast of  instrumental geniuses behind him, We As Human will leave you scratching your heads as to why you didn’t hear of these guys sooner!  After accomplishing so much, yet having so much ahead of them, it’s our pleasure to introduce you to We As Human!

How did the band form?
We started jamming together when we were teenagers, and after a few years decided to get serious about this whole music thing. It was a lot of trial and error, more error than trial most days! Ha! After writing some songs and playing locally quite a bit, we started to branch out and before long we were on our first tour down the west coast. Hardly anyone showed up for our shows back then, but we didn’t mind, we were always happy to see the peeps who did! The audience has grown quite a bit since then, but we are still just as happy to see that people show up to rock with us. It just never gets old.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Playing on the WinterJam tour for 10-20,000 people every night was a serious highlight for sure. Being discovered by John Cooper (Skillet) and signing to Atlantic records was amazing as well! Lacey Sturm singing with me on our new record was a dream come true! Driving an S.E.V. (Space Exploration Vehicle) at NASA won’t be soon forgotten either!

Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?
Trying to define what makes us different is a hard thing to do, I usually leave those kinds of distinctions up to our fans. I can however, tell you why people should listen to us, BECAUSE WE’RE AWESOME! *Laughs
