Anarbor – Burnout
Review by Jessica Klinner

Anarbor has been silently plotting their next album for quite some time now.  It has been three years since the release of 2010’s The Words You Don’t Swallow. If you’re anything like me, Burnout was an answered prayer. Three years is far too long to go without new music from this incredible band.

Before listening to Burnout, I already knew it was going to be a solid pop rock album. There has not been an Anarbor release I have been disappointed in yet and Burnout was no exception. If you’re looking for a band that mixes rock and roll with a little pop, then Anarbor is a perfect match for you!

The album’s opening track “Every High Has A Come Down” really gets the party started. The banging drums and guitar riffs draw you in and leave you wanting more. “Damage I’ve Done” and “Whiskey In Hell” are both tracks the band released earlier this year and fans are already familiar with; both of these songs are upbeat and filled with the classic Anarbor sound that we all love.  The album doesn’t begin to slow down until the seventh track entitled “Take My Pain Away.” The acoustic driven track brings a soft contrast to the album.  Anarbor breaks out the ukulele on “Rock To My Roll;” this song is perfect for the young lovers out there with its lovey-dovey lyrics and a sound reminiscent of summer. Lead singer Slade Echeverria’s vocals bring a roughness to each track that gives them a rock and roll sound. Burnout has proven to be the perfect album for Anarbor to put them back out there with; it will give old and new fans just what they’ve been waiting for. They have found their happy place somewhere in the middle of rock and pop and have created a unique sound that is unmatched in the industry.

Thirteen songs doesn’t seem like near enough to satisfy the three year drought fans experienced, but Anarbor loaded this album with their best songs yet!  The deluxe edition of the album features acoustic versions of “Every High Has A Comedown”, “18”, “Take My Pain Away”, and “Whiskey In Hell.” Be sure to pick up the album to support the band and catch them this summer on the Vans Warped Tour.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
