How did Chadwick Station form?
Alvis Kensington, here.  I was waiting for a train one morning and noticed John Cotner sitting there with a guitar case.  We’d never met but being a musician myself I struck up a conversation with him.  He was heading into the city for an audition for another band.  We were so enthralled talking about music and ideas and what we wanted to accomplish and what have you that John missed his train to his audition and I missed my train to work.  We decided that was a sign that we needed to start a band and we did.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I would have to say working with our producer, Bill Cuomo.  Among his many accomplishments, Bill co-wrote Oh Sherrie with Steve Perry.  That’s Bill’s distinctive keyboard at the start of that song.  We actually got him to play that for us when we were messing around in the studio and it literally gave me goosebumps.  What a classic piece of work.  He also did the distinctive keyboard work on Bette Davis Eyes, the Kim Carnes hit, as well as Can’t Fight This Feeling for REO Speedwagon, Here I Go Again by Whitesnake and dozens of other hits.  It was an absolute thrill to have someone of that magnitude producing this record.  And I think it certainly shows.  The production on our record is amazing.

Why should people listen to your band? What makes you different?
Well, what makes us different is we have a sort of retro feel, I guess, but we’re not a retro band.  It’s rather difficult to explain but I think we capture a feeling, a mood, that’s from another era but it’s quite modern, too.  It’s not like some tribute band or anything like that.  It’s just what comes out when I write music and when the band interprets that music.  One critic said, “I’ve never heard an artist so skillfully combine so many genres into one unique sound.”  We were flattered, of course, but that’s pretty spot on.  Our sound is really a mash-up of all five of our styles.  We don’t set out to sound like anybody.  We just bring each individual style to the studio and mix it all together.  I think it works quite nicely, actually.
