Don’t Miss Out: Masked Intruder
Interview by Zoe Marquedant

Festival season is in full swing, and with that comes the biggest traveling festival of the summer- Warped Tour. This year the tour features a ton of throwback bands like Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Less Than Jake, New Found Glory and so many more! And while we love these bands and appreciate their contribution to the scene, we want to introduce you to some of the bands that you may not know about. Who knows? You might get introduced to your new favorite band.

We recently caught up with Masked Intruder vocalist and guitarist Blue to talk about band shenanigans, Warped Tour and MORE!

Where do you get your ski masks?

Burglars-R-Us. Just kidding. We get them from the internet, of course.

Has anyone ever recognized the band without theirs on?

You mean like, the person that recognized us wasn’t wearing their ski mask? Shit yeah! Happens all the time.

You fought the law and lost, but met each other in prison. Do you keep in touch with anyone else from those days?

Try not to. Just kidding. But actually, not kidding. Some people and places are best to forget. Or, at least to put out of your head till you have to remember cause you got no choice.

Sure, you make friends in prison, but prison friends are like high school friends: Either you get out together and go on to be friends on the outside, or you don’t, and you see each other every few years at the reunions at best. No point in trying to keep up otherwise. It can only remind you of how shitty everything was before you got out.

Who are you most excited to play with?

We actually have some really good friends on Warped this year. Teenage Bottlerocket are super tight bros. They took us on our first couple of real tours. Also super pumped to see and hang with our buddies in Less Than Jake. Especially Roger, with whom we just recorded our new EP down in Gainseville.

As far as the bands on the same stage as us, I’m probably the most stoked to get to see the Interrupters. But, we’re pretty flipping psyched all around. This summer is gonna be awesome!

What should the audiences be expecting from a live show (besides Officer Bradford)?

A good time! And 4 dudes with color-coded ski masks and instruments crooning about stalking. Also, 50% more robbery than they’re expecting… even after reading this.

Your new EP is called Love and Other Crimes. What other crimes?

Pop punk.

How does Warped differ from the other large shows you’ve played (eg, Fest)?

Warped is it’s own thing, totally different than your average tour. At least, that’s what we hear. This will be our first one, so I really can’t speak from experience. We’ve never done a traveling festival quite like Warped before. Then again, I don’t think there even are any.

Any big plans for your hometown show in Wisconsin?

Just to not get picked up on any outstanding warrants. And not, not drink lots of beer.
