How did you get your start in music?

I have always been drawn to music and really have been singing my whole life. But a major turning point for me, and when I really got serious was when I went to my first voice lesson at 8 years old. I brought in my song to sing, ‘Natural Woman’. My voice teacher at the time wouldn’t let me sing it because she felt it was too mature for me to sing. But I loved this song and was determined to sing it! I ended up finding another voice teacher who encouraged me and sang this song a few months down the line at a voice recital. From then own I has a fire to sing and have my voice heard.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

I would say the highlight so far has been playing my debut shows at some renound venues in New York. I have been lucky enough to share the stage with some phenomenal artists. I always leave these shows feeling so full and inspired.

Why should people listen to you? What makes you different?

I’d like to think my music has the power to transport you to places beyond your bedroom or car. I tap into the human emotions and feels and see how I can take the listener to a place that feels relatable and real. I have soulful sensibility but have wanted to expand beyond making strictly R&B music. Because of this I have created the unique sound of IYVES.

You can keep up with IYVES on all things social, and check out her single, “Let The Water Run”  below.
