Five Albums To Get Ready For Fall
Words and Picks by Jessica Klinner

There’s a crisp feeling in the air. The leaves are changing colors. School has started, and fall is finally upon us. We wait all year for this beloved season to come, and though it doesn’t stick around for long, it’s nice to enjoy the light jacket weather while it lasts. My favorite thing to do this time of year is curl up with a cozy blanket and listen to music. The following list is a compilation of the albums I’ll be listening to on repeat all fall long.

Arkells – High Noon
I’ve been completely obsessed with Arkells since I saw them open for The Maine two years ago. Prior to the show, I had never heard any of their music, but I left a fan. There’s something special about falling in love with a band based off their live performance. The third studio album from the Canadian band is by far their best work to date, and in a discography that has no flaws, that says a lot. I highly recommend listening to this album if you haven’t already. I promise you won’t be able to stop listening for weeks.

The Maine – Forever Halloween
Is it really a surprise that this album made it onto the list? From the title and album artwork alone, it’s evident this album was meant to be enjoyed in the fall months (though it was originally released in the summer). There’s a roughness within the tracks that feels raw and authentic.  It’s a great album to lay on the floor and listen to while pondering the meaning of life or crying for no reason. Maybe the latter is just me.

 Ryan Adams – Ryan Adams
Initially, I had Heartbreaker on this list, but once Ryan Adams dropped I had to include it instead. Basically, any Ryan Adams album could fit into this space on my list, but I chose to pick his newest release because the man can do no wrong. Adams consistently produces albums that prove he’s the best at what he does. He’s 39-years-old for crying out loud (He’ll celebrate his 40th birthday this November)! It’s amazing that he still has it after all these years! Rock on, sir.

The Neighbourhood – I Love You.
The Neighbourhood first came onto my music radar when their single, “Sweater Weather,” took over the airwaves. It took me a while before I actually listened to the album in full, but once I did, I was hooked. This is the type of album I listen to on repeat for days, forget about for months, rediscover and binge on again. It’s haunting; it’s eerie; it’s everything you need in an album for the fall.

 Emarosa – Versus
I finally hopped on the bandwagon and gave this album a listen. Obviously, it made quite the impression on me since it made this list. For weeks (yes, even before the release), my social media has been filled with people raving about this album. I’ve never really listened to Emarosa before so I went into the first spin of the album not knowing what to expect. After hearing the first song, I could tell I was in for a treat. If you’re not sure about this album, take it from someone who just became a fan two hours before writing this list: it’s amazing.
