Sara Savery – “The Diver”

0
Sara Savery is an artist with an intriguing and beautiful sound. A sound that will cause you to immediately think, “Okay, I like this.” The next day you’ll find yourself thinking, “Okay, I really dig this,” and the following day realize, “Wow, I’m in love.” Her debut album, The Diver, is set to release tomorrow, October 29th. However, she has taken us back to the time when she wrote the title track to her album and walked us through how the song was written and what it’s about. The lyrics might hit close to home for some of you, but that’s what great music does. It evokes memories and emotion, sometimes of those we might not care to revisit, but it’s surprisingly healing. Check out the story and lyrics, as well as listen to the song below.

Backstory
“When I wrote and produced the song, I started with the beat and the kind of driving “bubbly” synth pattern that resonates throughout the track. I was then just improvising with layers of synths. I liked the idea of letting the track be almost like an ongoing wave-like journey, slowly developing, rising and falling in energy with different themes interweaving. I had spent a couple of days just listening to different tracks that I really love. One of them was the Slowdive track “Catch The Breeze” which I think is such a cool, dreamy and sexy track. I like all the layers of synths and how it has this slow, dreamy, and mellow kind-of-vibe to it.
The lyric to ‘The Diver’ is pretty much about when some one close to you suddenly walks away from you and you have no clue why. You’re going out your mind ’cause you can’t do anything about it.. And it turns you upside down…”
