Take a first glance at Highlight Magazine veteran GOLDHOUSE’s Facebook…. “GOLDHOUSE is not a band, artist, or any other form of inferior music. GOLDHOUSE is a way of life. If you haven’t quite been able to glue the name GOLDHOUSE to your brain yet, Grant Harris (ex Breathe Electric) is back under a new name and has been dishing out his most catchy tunes to date. We had the chance to catch up with him at his show this past weekend in Chicago where he headlined a packed House of Blues crowd, where his energetic performance completely stunned the room.

Around 2PM, we caught up with Grant as he was loading in and preparing all of his equipment for his performance to follow later that night. Hidden and focusing on the other side of a portion of the incredibly large house of blues sound system, Grant was taking his time untangling cords and getting all of his equipment ready with much care and organization. As he attempted to explain, I was immediately lost. It was obvious from the start that he has mastered his craft.

The rest of the day Grant spent much of his time with friends at House of Blues before his performance. He was full of laughter and smiles, as he should be! As we met up with Grant before his performance, he was running around backstage with excitement, anxious to dominate and ready to follow the amazing local acts that played before him. As he was running around checking, echos of ‘Purple, purple, purrrrpppllleeee’ were heard, followed by sly giggles of the fans behind the curtain.

As the band put on their gold masks, the curtain began to open and the crowd exploded with excitement. It was clear that the crowd was there to celebrate his success and this was proven to be true the second he took the stage. After a slick intro and removal of the masks, GOLDHOUSE began playing the irresistible single “F-C-K” and the entire band captivated the crowd with not only their energy but their genuine stage presence.

As I glanced out at the crowd, not a single body was still. Fans were deeply enjoying GOLDHOUSE’s performance and it was obvious the madness was only beginning – in a good way of course. Not even a few minutes in, he hopped straight onto the barricade to get just a tad closer to his hundreds of dedicated fans.

As the night went on, GOLDHOUSE continued to use the stage to his full advantage. Playing songs from his recent EP, All Night Long, and even a cover song, it was obvious that every single musician onstage hadn’t toned down their energy even a tad. GOLDHOUSE himself was running between the barricade and every inch of the stage the entire night. During the last song of their performance, he even jumped OVER the barricade into the crowd and danced it out for the last few minutes of their set. Overall the entire performance was flawless and one of the most energetic performances, I, who attends multiple shows a week, have seen in a very long time. Many props to GOLDHOUSE and co for a phenomenal performance. We here at Highlight Magazine are looking forward to supporting you on your future endeavors.
