Softcult have released a music video for their new single “I Held You Like Glass,” which can be streamed below. The track is taken from their debut album, When A Flower Doesn’t Grow, out now. Vocalist Mercedes Arn-Horn had this to say about the new song:
“We wrote “i held you like glass” about the processing and letting go of unhealed trauma. The lyrics describe how it feels to internalize the dynamics of toxic relationships, comparing loving people that hurt us to holding broken glass; continuously wounding us until we let go. Over time we slowly grow numb to the discomfort until it feels normal.” Speaking of the music video Mercedes continues, “We wanted to use the broken glass analogy visually as well, slowly revealing the extent of our injuries until they become too severe to ignore.”
