Finding a parking spot at Cannery Row One in Nashville, a lot shared by one building that houses three separate venues, on a night with three different performances is challenging. Throw Guster and Seyrn into the mix of shows, and it’s near impossible.

Blinking taillights lit up the wintery night as people dodged the slow crawl of cars and tried to find the quickest way out of the cold and into their respective concerts. For most, it was a brisk walk from the car with a quick ticket check at the entrance. However, while Guster was the more established band of the night, it was folk-rock band Seyrn’s album release show that had fans lined up out the door trying to get into the show.

After braving the cold night, the audience was greeted with a warm welcome from spirited opener The Red Headed Indian. Her soulful folk sound drew the audience in as she lost herself in her enchantingly simplistic and thoughtful music. By the time she had finished her set, the room was packed and restless for Seryn to take the stage.

As soon as Seryn walked onto the stage, the reaction from the crowd was immediate: whoops and whistles filled the air. The band members broke out into excited, surprised smiles and laughs as they took up their instruments. They were taken aback and amazed by the turnout. Lead singer Trent Wheeler cried out, “How are you guys even real? You guys are making us feel right at home!”

Seryn kicked off their set with a powerful, brooding jam session as they transitoned into their first song. With a raw, unfiltered feel and intricate harmonies, there was a certain vulnerability to their performance. Seryn built up to huge swells only to drop to muted tones in an instant. As they created those emotive moments, they sang their innermost thoughts over the audience.

The night, dedicated to their new album “Shadows Shows,” was a special treat for their fans. They played through most of their new songs before the night was over. Their new album, an ode to starting over and remaking themselves after facing major tension as a band, kept the audience spellbound as Seryn played the new songs.

At the end of the night, nobody wanted it to end. The cheers were endless. The crowd was inspired. Seryn had played their hearts out to the people.

The evening left everyone wanting more, anticipating the up-coming release of “Shadow Shows.” Check it out Feb. 17 when it releases, or stream it now on Spotify for a free preview.
