Third String Records Re-Launches; Signs Pop-Punk Band Dear You

0

After an 8 year hiatus, Third String Records is coming back! Founded by Mike Ziemer in 2004, the label is on its way back to once again help the local scene thrive by also announcing its first signing to Texas pop-punk trio Dear You. You can read the statement about the labels comeback by Ziemer below.

I first fell in love with music while I was in high school. One of the biggest things I always noticed was the importance of the record label. For me, if Vagrant, Drive Thru, Epitaph, or Victory was putting it out back then, chances were I was going to love it. It was easy to have faith in those labels to sign awesome bands after all the great bands that made their labels well known. That sort of faith in a record label is what I want to bring to the scene with this new venture, Third String Records.

In 2004 – 2006 I tried my hand at a label with the same name to help out some local Dallas bands, but being 18 years old, I had no clue what I was doing and although what I did greatly helped the bands, when both bands eventually broke up, I didn’t know how to “start over.”

Fast forward to 2014, I’ve been overwhelmed with some of the talented bands that have landed in my inbox and after speaking with a few close friends, I decided it was time to bring back Third String Records and give running a record label another shot. My plan is to sign great bands that write great songs. I am not limiting the label to any genre or location.

The first band we have signed is the pop-punk / indie-rock band Dear You from the Houston, TX area. I’ve been a fan of this band for a while but as soon as they sent me their new single “Castles” I knew this band was ready to take their music to the next level, and I want to be a part of that.
