Five Albums I’m Thankful For
Words and Picks by Jennifer Boylen
Concept by Annette Schaefer

This is the time of year to give thanks.  Instead of just doing so around a turkey dinner, what better time to pay respects to our favorite albums.  I have compiled five albums whose existence I am genuinely thankful for.  Complete with a few new and old, this list is the music that made me who I am and is the reason I love to music I do.

Fall Out Boy – Save Rock And Roll
It’s the album no one ever thought would come, but Save Rock And Roll honestly shattered every expectation I had of it. I’ve spent countless hours listening to this record, and I am not only thankful for these eleven songs, but more so the Fall Out Boy reunion.

30 Seconds To Mars – A Beautiful Lie
This was one of the first records I bought in high school. I have bonded with so many people over this band and some of my favorite memories have been at their shows and to the songs on this album. It’s very nostalgic and to this day I’m not bored of it.  Not to mention, 30 Seconds to Mars never disappoints, and A Beautiful Lie is no exception.

Mayday Parade – A Lesson In Romantics
This may be my favorite record in recent history. I learned to drive with this these songs playing and it was the soundtrack to many long drives. This band got me through some of my toughest times to date and this album in particular has had a major part in that. Plus, the songs are just damn good.

Panic! at the Disco – Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!
This one is more recent but it has been on repeat since its release. I even preordered Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! because of my excitement. It’s great. I like it. I’m thankful that it exists. That is all.

Hedley – The Show Must Go
I stumbled upon this Canadian band during an acoustic set at the Hard Rock Café.  When one of them walked out with a huge mustache and a Harley Davidson tank top I was quite skeptical; but as soon as they started their fist song I was hooked.  I was also lucky enough to also catch their set, fully plugged in two years later.  The Show Must Go, as well as a couple of their other records, have been the soundtrack to countless road trips, parties, and long nights.  ‘Perfect’ is even one of my favorite songs of all time.  I am very thankful for this band and especially this record.
