Friends of Friends have released a brand new single called “Attention,” which can be streamed below. Speaking on “Attention,” frontman Barnaby Baker has shared:
“Every day we see something absolutely insane on our phones. It’s like, ‘Yeah, I know the world is falling apart, but did you see that cute video I sent you on Insta?’ We all know it. Either we can’t do anything about it, or we’re too scared to look too deep. But under all of that, I ironically just want a bit of attention on myself, and I feel both vein and owed at the same time. It’s a bit stupid, really. It’s not a sad song. It’s furious, disillusioned, ironic, a bit fun-poking and hyper-aware. It’s the sound of someone who’s been told to be grateful, to calm down, to ‘go outside and touch grass’ – but who knows deep down that something real is missing. And maybe it’s already too late. Or maybe it’s not – and screaming about it is the last real thing left.
