Frank Turner brought the house down at the Norwich LCR this past Saturday with an eclectic set full of energy, heart, and a whole lot of singalongs. The venue was buzzing from the minute he and The Sleeping Souls hit the stage, kicking things off with ‘No Thank You For the Music’ off of his newest album ‘Undefeated’.
Frank had the crowd in the palm of his hand—cracking jokes, telling stories, and getting everyone involved. This was actually my first time ever seeing him play live but immediately felt included within the large crowd. Whether it was newer tracks like “Girl From the Record Shop” or old favorites like “Photosynthesis” and “Get Better” the whole night felt like a massive, sweaty, joyful celebration of music and community and a candle in these uncertain times.
There were arm-in-arm singalongs, and even a few quiet moments, with some acoustic songs and a very impassioned crowd . He wrapped up the impressive 25 song setlist with the always-chaotic “Four Simple Words,” leaving everyone hoarse, sweaty, and smiling (usually not too difficult for a Saturday night). The supports of Lucy Grubb and Amigo The Devil did a fantastic job of setting the initial tone of warmth and fun for the evening, it was an early show but great to see so many fans down and ready for the whole night!
Classic Frank Turner—honest, loud, and totally life-affirming.
