P!NK’s Summer Carnival Tour

The Principality Stadium // Cardiff, Wales // 11 June 2024

Photos and review by Sophie Jones

Upon entering the Principality Stadium, I was overwhelmed with the size of the venue and how beautiful the place looked with thousands of P!NK fans filling in to take their seats. Unfortunately, the retractable roof of the venue was closed, making inside rather dark.

Once inside, it was go-time. Having previously attended this tour in Birmingham and London on the first leg of The Summer Carnival Tour, I had a very good idea of what to expect. As always, P!NK made her entrance behind a pair of huge lips suspended in the air which was flanked by giant silver palm trees and blow up creations around the Apex frame of the stage.

Now, as P!NK made her way over the piano she was given some Organic Fruit Bear Rolls by her pianist Jason Chapman who joked that he took them from her kids’ lunch boxes before asking the audience if anyone wanted a snack and threw them out to the people in the Golden Circle area. P!NK then sat down at the piano and said ” I haven’t played this in a couple of months, so if this doesn’t work out, make out with someone….WITH CONSENT” she said before performing a cover version of “Make You Feel My Love” By Bob Dylan.

Jason Chapman then rejoined P!NK on stage to perform a few other tracks at the piano and again with the onstage banter, P!NK declared to the room that Jason needed a little bit of Taylor Swift in his life, he just needs to “shake it off” before going into performing “F**king Perfect.”

After this, P!NK expressed her gratitude to the audience for coming to the show and whether it’s their first or 18th show, she’s grateful she has all these people come to play with her and have a good time. She continued to say the best compliment she has ever received is that fans feel safe at her shows, they feel seen and included. She said the best two compliments she can get are 1) you make us laugh and 2) you make us feel safe.

Throughout the show their were a few technical glitches, one being when the teleprompter had the wrong track on screen for her and it took them a few minutes to get the right track loaded on to their for her, along with a few monitor and sound issues for her along the way. However, as the icon that she is…she worked with it styled it out and everyone had a brilliant time.
