The Hara
Opening the night were The Hara; Now the guys have been somewhat quiet for a little while as they’ve been working on their next album. That said, we got to hear the live debut of two new songs, “The System” and “Trophy” which frontman Josh Taylor mentioned might be their next single release. As usual, you could expect the usual Hara antics and energy to get the crowd going, which is exactly what they did.
Graphic Nature
Graphic Nature was next and personally, I’ve never heard of the band so I didn’t know what to expect. Graphic Nature’s sound is pretty brutal, a backing track of heavy drum and bass, merged with the live instruments works incredibly well for them. The band (Apart from singer Harvey Freeman) were all in coats with hoods up, making it somewhat difficult to see them. The lights were low blue moody tones with a slight bit of haze to create an atmosphere.
Ice Nine Kills
Now the band who everyone came to see – Ice Nine Kills; Now in true INK fashion, their show was a horror themed theatre performance with catchy metal riffs to accompany. There were stage actors in bloody costumes, police uniforms running around with their props, Honestly, there was so much to take in as so much was happening. Lead Vocalist Spencer Charnas brings such a unique and commanding energy to the stage and the crowd could not get enough. You can tell this band puts in a lot of thought into their sets and the design.
