Packed like sardines in a can, Seattle residents came out in droves for Knocked Loose’s performance at the Showbox SoDo on May 14. Known for their intense live shows, the band did not disappoint, delivering a set that was as fierce as it was unforgettable.

The night kicked off with a bang as Knocked Loose launched into “Blinding Faith,” setting the tone for the entire night. Bryan Garris’s raw, visceral screams pierced through the air, immediately igniting a mosh pit that consumed the entire floor.

The setlist was a well-balanced mix of old favorites and new material from their recent release, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. Tracks like “Deadringer” and “Trapped In The Grasp Of A Memory” had the crowd screaming along as crowd surfers floated over the barricade, while newer tracks like “Suffocate” and “Don’t Reach For Me” showcased the band’s evolving sound and depth. Each song was performed with an unyielding passion that resonated with the audience, creating a powerful communal experience.

One of the standout moments of the night was the performance of “Mistakes Like Fractures.” The song’s crushing breakdowns and haunting melodies were amplified by the live setting, turning the venue into a sea of headbanging and bodies flying through the air. The band’s ability to seamlessly transition from blistering aggression to melodic interludes highlighted their musical prowess and versatility.

Throughout the show, the band’s musicianship was on full display. Isaac Hale and Nicko Calderon’s guitars created a wall of sound, blending intricate riffs with bone-crushing breakdowns. Kevin Otten’s bass lines added a deep, resonant layer that shook the venue, while Kevin Kaine’s drumming provided a relentless, driving force that kept the energy at its peak.

Bryan Garris proved once again why he is one of the most compelling frontmen in the hardcore scene. His stage presence was commanding, moving with a frenetic energy that captivated the crowd. Whether screaming into the mic or encouraging a circle pit that covered nearly the entire venue, Garris’s connection with the fans was undeniable. His raw emotion and intensity brought the lyrics to life, making every song feel personal and immediate.

As the night drew to a close with the explosive “Counting Worms,” the crowd’s energy reached its zenith. The entire venue seemed to erupt in unison, chanting along to the iconic “Arf Arf” breakdown, a moment that epitomized the raw power and unity of the hardcore community.

Ending the night on a high with “Everything Is Quiet Now,” Knocked Loose’s performance at Showbox SoDo was a masterclass in hardcore. The band’s relentless energy, technical proficiency and emotional intensity created a live experience that was nothing short of extraordinary.

For those in attendance, it was a night to remember – a testament to the enduring power of live music and the unique connection between a band and its fans. Knocked Loose continues to prove why they are one of the most captivating acts in the hardcore scene today.
