Hey Violet have released a brand new song called “Best Imposter,” which can be streamed below. Speaking about the new track, lead singer Rena Lovealis has shared:
“For a long time, I’ve grappled with a lot of deeply-held insecurities and how those show up in my life. I deal with a lot of self-doubt.”
“‘Best Imposter’ is about experiencing intense imposter syndrome. It gives some insight into what Nia and I felt growing up, being in this in between stage where we’re sort of from New York and also sort of from California, and sort of millennial, but sort of Gen Z.
“We always felt like we were floating in the strange world of close, but not quite, and that really put a weight on us when people would question if we deserved certain opportunities that the band got. Like ‘Damn, are we supposed to be here?’
“At the end of the day, someone will always have something to say. It’s about validating our own voices and knowing we deserve a seat at the table, in spite of any self-doubt or insecurity or anxiety.”
