It’s not quite pop and it’s not quite rock — it’s a combination that will make you hungry for more. Hungover, a pop-rock trio from Orlando, FL has something for the lover of both genres to enjoy.
Out Feb. 23 via Smartpunk Records is their newest album, When It Touches the Heart, Everything Resolves. The Floridian band has created a record that sounds so fun with its pop elements that listeners will be up and dancing around in their rooms. With three singles released before the entire record (“Reunion,” “Shake It Off” and “Out Of Body”), they have given listeners a feel of what is to come, but the whole album must be heard for it to really move you.
It all starts with the album opener, “Candy Flip.” Although it is mostly vocals at the beginning, just hang in there for the rest of the band to join and for the song to really kick in. The vibe of the remainder of the album can be predicted based off this single track, however, it is a must-listen to have the full experience.
As one listens along track by track, they may run into self-rediscovery, self-reflection and thinking about how life goes on when growing up. These are just a few of the aspects from the album that people may find themselves connecting with the band through.
One thing that will be appreciated is that When It Touches the Heart, Everything Resolves includes a very touching acoustic track. Coming to realizations surrounding one’s feelings may be a challenge and sometimes uncomfortable. “Hard To Tell,” though, can help reassure oneself that they are not alone. And this becomes comforting. We love a tune that can really help us move through things.
This record may or may not be easily placed into a single genre. Maybe it is too much of a pop-sounding record to be considered rock. But it could also sound a bit too rock to be considered pop. Who knows! Give it a listen through and you can be the judge of that. It may even touch your heart and some things may be resolved.
