The New York-based Avant-indie rockers formed in 2018 by a literal star-studded lineup took to the upstairs stage in the Waterfront Studio and treated eager fans to an eclectic setlist curated of songs both old and brand new. Actor turned singer Michael C. Hall of Six Feet Under and Dexter fame, proved to be a powerhouse of talent once again alongside equally accomplished and artistic band members Matt Katz-Bohen and Peter Yanowitz.
The band’s newest album, ‘Come of Age,’ releases on October 6th with three songs having been released already as singles, which the band performed flawlessly with the crowd echoing the electro-pop choruses. “Blur” was a standout track to hear live and our favourite from the night!
The band brings a funkadelic energy alongside Michael’s soothing mellow vocals, mixing electronica and dance to create a perfect blend of songs you can dance to whilst being taken to a place of nostalgia. Matt Katz-Bohen’s keytar solos make for some great moments within the band’s varied setlist.
Fan favourite tracks from the 2021 album ‘Thanks for Coming’ such as “Airhead” and “Tomorrow’s Screams” sounded great in the venue, but the band made sure to extend their gratitude toward the brilliant Beija Flo, who is currently supporting the band on their UK tour and has done so in the past, by playing an unreleased song off of the upcoming album entitled “Beija.” The acoustic ode was a lovely touch for this intimate venue and really solidified a feeling of community and harmony between the band and fans.
As the final encore approached and the band re-emerge from backstage, Michael snuck into the crowd and took a beat to feel the energy and warmth of the audience before climbing back onto the stage and performing the last songs of the night, ending with one of the band’s funkiest offerings “Come Talk To Me.”
The album ‘Coming of Age’ will be released on October 6th on SO In De Goot Recordings. Catch the band playing in London on October 8th!
