It was evidently clear on Monday night that Maisie Peters has grown in popularity in Seattle. After headlining the Vera Project a little over a year ago, Maisie returned to the Emerald City for a jampacked show at the historic Showbox. Hot off the heels of her support slot at Ed Sheeran’s Lumen Field show a few days prior, Maisie brought plenty of tunes from her new album The Good Witch to share with the eager audience.
In fact, Maisie opened up the show with the album’s title track, an upbeat song that showcases her distinctly delicate vocals. From the moment the first note rang through the speakers, it was clear just how passionate Maisie’s fans are. Lining the barricade with plenty of friendship bracelets, the fans sang every single word back to Maisie, which Maisie proudly accepted, interacting with as many fans as she could as she dazzled across the stage.
Maisie played a staggering 19-song set list that spanned her career, but mainly focused on her latest release. The set list included new tracks such as “Coming of Age” and “Body Better,” the latter of which had Maisie strumming an acoustic guitar.
Perhaps one of the most memorable moments of the night came during “John Hughes Movie.” As a fan favorite, the You Signed Up For This track brought fans back to the 2021 album that put Maisie on the musical map. Throughout the song, Maisie raised her microphone out toward the crowd, allowing them to sing the catchy lyrics and create an inclusive moment that is hard to forget.
Shortly after, Maisie performed a medley of “Two Weeks Ago,” Worst of You,” You Signed Up For This” and One Direction’s ballad “Night Changes.” The opening lyrics to “You Signed Up For This” earned shrieks from the crowd, many fans wanting Maisie to perform the track in its entirety. It was clear from that moment the impact the album has had on fans.
“Run,” “Blonde,” “There It Goes” and “Cate’s Brothers” were among the other tracks played during the night, all of which earned cheers and sing-alongs from fans at the barricade to the bar and the back of the venue.
Closing out the night with “History of Man” and “Lost The Breakup,” Maisie proved during her hour-and-a-half set why she is a force to be reckoned with in pop music. Her charismatic stage presence, unique vocals and sometimes-heart-wrenching relatable lyrics make a bulletproof recipe for the perfect popstar and Maisie is just that.
As The Good Witch continues to catapult her into success, I suspect we will see great things from Maisie Peters in the coming years and I can’t wait to see what she has in store next.
