Everyone grab your kandi and pashminas… it’s that time of year again! Electric Zoo is right around the corner, kicking off at New York City’s Randalls Island Park on Friday, September 1st.
Thousands of people dressed in eccentric, colorful attire will soon flock to the small island park, right over the east river overlooking the skyline of Manhattan. As with previous years, they’ll be met with vivid, flashing lights and steady beats coming from all the stages, a mixture of the smells of the food vendors lined up across the grounds, and an arrangement of photo opportunities scattered everywhere in between. This immersive, high-energy environment helps set the tone for a night full of electrifying performances, and with the lineup this year, there’s no doubt attendees will have the time of their lives.
The festival has worked to diversify its lineup, featuring women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC artists such as Moore Kismet, HoneyLuv, Storyboard, Green Velvet, and many more — a refreshing modification given the typical notoriety of EDM festivals, which tend to exclude minority artists.
This year, E-Zoo partnered with Jake Resnicow, one of the world’s leading queer event producers, to take it one step further. On Friday, the festival’s opening day, “Dreamland” will takeover the Morphosis stage to celebrate queer joy and community, which will highlight artists such as J. Worra, The Blessed Madonna, Spencer Huff, and Matt Suave; the latter two will be opening the stage with a back-to-back set, joined by special guests from Bob’s Dance Shop. Carola and Coco & Breezy will also grace the stage that day, as well as a sunset set from Kaskade and a closing performance from a newly announced act, Eli Escobar.
Resnicow, who was named one of Out100‘s “Most Influential LGBTQ+ People of the Year,” said “guests can expect an unforgettable experience at Dreamland,” adding “it will be a transformative journey, filled with vibrant sounds, extraordinary dancers and performers, and a contagious energy that transcends boundaries.”
“Dreamland” will kick off a weekend full of curated stage takeovers, containing stacked lineups including Alison Wonderland, GRiZ, The Chainsmokers, Bonnie & Clyde, Marshmello, Galantis, Tiësto and so many more.
Randall’s Island Park will be the place to be on Labor Day weekend! You won’t want to miss the E-Zoo action – head over to their website and secure your tickets.
We’ll see you there!
