It’s been three years since the duo that makes up Emarosa released a full-length album. But they’re back with ‘Sting,’ a new record to be released on January 27 via Out of Line Music. This alternative work of theirs includes a mixture of pop vibes and synth-wave feels to create something fun and enjoyable for listeners. After four singles to tease the new album, fans will be excited to know that Emarosa is back to recreate new memories with this 10-track masterpiece.

As the first single for ‘Sting,’ this tune gives off an upbeat ’80s dance feel. “Preach” will have the listener clapping along to its verse with the instrumentals chosen for the opener. At the chorus, though, it becomes even more upbeat — it’s one of those songs that gets the listener moving around in their bedroom and feeling a kind of fun groove. And since this was a single, some may already know the lyrics, which adds to its energy.

The next two tracks, while still upbeat, turn out to be more and more laidback. “Attention” is fun, it’s a tune to play while in the living room and it can motivate one to get things done. “Stay,” on the other hand, is more lowkey, but still with a good beat. This one can be enjoyable to listen to either while dancing around in the kitchen or on a late-night drive. Either way, it’ll still get one moving to it.

Moving through the album, Emarosa takes a break from the more dance-like tempo and switches it up to being more lowkey compared to the start of the record. The duo, Bradley Scott and ER White, do a great job with this transition by still maintaining the same kind of energy and theme of ‘Sting.’

In the fifth track, “Forgiveness,” vocalist Scott does more with his vocal range and one can really hear the talent and emotions through his voice. This brings more depth to the song, something listeners can then feel and not only listen to. And speaking of emotions, with the next track “INLA,” the duo gets more emotional with the lyrics and instrumentals. Even the guitar solo in the bridge adds more power to the tune and creates an even more intense feel.

As the album continues, the songs pick up again and fans can begin dancing about to the tunes. But with the closing track, “Danger” comes back with a more laidback sound. It sounds a bit mysterious, but it goes well with the lyrics “in love with a stranger” and “looking for danger.” This ending to the album works because it’s still not too slowed down, but it’s slowed down just enough that it leaves fans wanting more, so they’ll want to press play on the album again.

Emarosa gives listeners a sort of journey to go on, sound-wise, with their new record. The album starts off very fun and makes one want to dance. Then it calms down a bit and gets more serious, but toward the end, the beat picks back up again with some pop energy. ‘Sting’ and its alternative pop vibes are a marvelous way for Emarosa to come back with a full-length album for fans to have something to be excited about.
