"The Band CAMINO still want to climb more ladders, gain more popularity and success and they have the hunger, drive and talent to do so. These boys ooze passion in everything that they do, and it's clear to see that they are both humble and grateful for the support of their fans. I am so excited to see what the future holds for this band!"

On the evening of April 27, Nashville, Tennessee pop/rock trio, The Band CAMINO brought their first headlining tour in over two years – The Tour Camino – to New York’s Terminal 5. Situated on the far west side of the Manhattan neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, on West 56th Street, Terminal 5 was overflowing with fans waiting with excitement to get into the venue for a night of great music and high energy (and also dancing, of course!)
When I made it into the venue, up-and-coming singer/songwriter Hastings was kicking the night off. The Nashville-based youngster was kicking off the third to last night on his very first tour; he told the crowd. Hastings’ voice immediately caught my attention as his silky smooth vocals echoed throughout the venue. Fans along the barricade were feeling his music as they bopped their heads to the beat, donning smiles from ear to ear. After a short but sweet set, Hastings’ performance had come to an end. He thanked the crowd for getting there early to catch his performance, reminding them all of his name one last time before waving to the people on the second and third-floor balconies and disappearing behind stage left.
flor
Up next was Oregon-based band, flor. I first discovered flor many moons ago, when I was in college. I fell in love with their distinct indie-pop sound and the pipes on lead vocalist Zack Grace were to die for. The band opened their set with “Play Along” off their upcoming album Future Shine (releasing May 6), before turning out some older fan favorites like “rely”, “dancing around” and “hold on”. Though flor’s set was brief, they made sure to leave their mark on the crowd. Their onstage energy was infectious and I couldn’t help but look around the venue, seeing groups of friends dancing with each other to the music as the lighting bounced off the massive disco ball that hung from the ceiling. I always love getting to see flor perform live, their music and energy are contagious and so catchy. They truly always bring a smile to my face and it’s been such a pleasure watching this band continue to grow over the years.
After flor’s set concluded, stagehands immediately took to the stage to break down the opening bands equipment and set up The Band CAMINO’s instruments. Loud music began blasting throughout the venue and fans along the barricade began pulling bouquets of roses from their bags and by their feet. As the clock inched closer to 9pm, the anticipation began rising and the excitement was palpable. Suddenly, the lights went dark and the band took to the stage. Immediately ripping into “Know It All” off their self-titled sophomore album, it was nearly impossible to hear the band over the screams of the fans in the crowd.
During their second song, “Roses” – in one of the most cohesive moves I’ve ever seen at a concert – fans launched tons of roses onto the stage, surprising the band and bringing a smile to their faces. The roses remained on stage, situated on top and tied into their instruments and equipment across the stage. It created a lovely and unique scene that I truly appreciated. The energy throughout the performance never dissipated during their hour and a half long set. The Band CAMINO offered fans, both new and old, a diverse and high energy setlist that included fan favorites like “I Think I Like You”, “2/14”, “Hush Hush”, as well as their song with Chelsea Cutler, “Crying Over You”.
The Band CAMINO was one of the last bands I saw pre-covid, when they sold out New York’s Webster Hall in September 2019. Without going on another tour since that very headlining tour, it is quite the feat that The Band CAMINO jam packed all three floors of one of New York City’s largest General Admission venues. People are without a doubt picking up what The Band CAMINO is putting down and they couldn’t be happier. The Band CAMINO have skyrocketed in popularity and they are a true hot commodity in the industry and they’re proving that they’re not going anywhere.
The Band CAMINO still want to climb more ladders, gain more popularity and success and they have the hunger, drive and talent to do so. These boys ooze passion in everything that they do, and it’s clear to see that they are both humble and grateful for the support of their fans. I am so excited to see what the future holds for this band!
