State Champs announce ‘Unplugged’ EP

0

State Champs will release their new Unplugged EP on August 14 via Pure Noise Records. The stripped down EP will feature four brand new songs as well as acoustic versions of “Criminal” and “Dead and Gone” from 2018’s Living Proof.

As well, in celebration of State Champs’ 10-year anniversary, the band are hosting a variety show on June 22. The evening will feature performances, the exclusive premiere of some new music, special guests, a brand new webisode of “Shot Boys,” a live Q&A and more. Tickets for the 10-year celebration are available for purchase here.

“We’re excited to celebrate our 10th birthday as a band in the best fashion: An interactive online variety show where we get to hang out with fans, perform, reminisce, and tell stories from the past 10 years,” vocalist Derek DiScanio says. “We’ll be bringing in some surprise guests, and even premiering new music. That’s right, those who purchase tickets to the event will be the first to hear some brand new tunes and music videos from our upcoming Unplugged EP. There will be exclusive merch deals right on the event page and we’ll top the night off with a live Q&A hangout with everyone. This is the most unique event we’ve ever thrown and we can’t wait to share it with everyone as we ring in the next chapter of Champs.”

In addition, State Champs are partnering with HeadCount to offer a 50 percent discount off tickets to the variety shows for fans who register to vote. For those that are not of age to register, they can pledge with HeadCount and still receive the discount. For more info, please head here.

State Champs have also launched a Black Lives Matter shirt. Shirt pre-orders are available here and all proceeds will be donated to Black Lives Matter.

There’s an incredible movement happening right now in our country and throughout the world. Black voices that are tired of the injustice, the discrimination, the inequality, louder than ever in a choir fighting to be seen and accepted without prejudice, and it’s long overdue,” shared the band on social media. “We are excited to lend our voices and support alongside those protesting, donating, making petitions, gathering and distributing resources, and raising awareness. It’s time to listen, learn and act, because it’s time for a change.”

There’s an incredible movement happening right now in our country and throughout the world. Black voices that are tired of the injustice, the discrimination, the inequality, louder than ever in a choir fighting to be seen and accepted without prejudice, and it’s long overdue. We are excited to lend our voices and support alongside those protesting, donating, making petitions, gathering and distributing resources, and raising awareness. It’s time to listen, learn and act, because it’s time for a change. With that being said, we champion the Black Lives Matter movement and wanted to do our part in utilizing our platform for good. Over the next few days we will be raffling off a number of items from the Champs vault to donate to various causes we believe are doing good things in conjunction with the movement. First and foremost, we figured a t-shirt was one of the easiest and most effective ways to spread awareness through action, so 100% of the proceeds from this shirt will go to the Black Lives Matter foundation. If the phrase sounds familiar but not, check out Gil Scott-Heron’s song, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” In an age where media is curated to fit specific agendas, the information leading the charge has to be street-level, where the battles are being fought. “The Revolution Shall Be Digitized” is the artist Sebastien Samson’s (@susboyboston) creative and poignant take on the song from 1971, because we have the opportunity to change the course of history through our documentation of these events. These injustices are not new at all, but they weren’t documented like they are today. Smart phones have given the people of our generation a little more power and it’s time we use that power to make a genuine difference. We miss our fans, being on the road and playing shows, but please understand now is a time for us to be allies in something happening that is bigger than our music. We have had a special event planned that we were slated to announce this week, but have ultimately decided it’s not the appropriate time to do so and we know that our friends and fans will understand that, because they are progressive and desire that same change.
