Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The Wonder Years have cancelled their rescheduled Burst & Decay tour with Free Throw, Spanish Love Songs and Pool Kids. The full statement from the band can be viewed below. The band initially reschedule the tour from March to July but made the decision to fully cancel their tour run this week.
It’s with a great deal of sadness that we have to tell you today that our Burst & Decay Tour Rescheduled Dates in July will also not be happening. Refunds are available at your point of purchase. We want to send all of the love in the world to Free Throw, Spanish Love Songs and Pool Kids. We’re sorry we didn’t get to finish this one right, but we’ll gig together in the future. You can count on that. All of these bands are amazing and if you haven’t listened to them yet, today would be a great day to start. They work their asses off, they play amazing music and they’re genuine pleasures to be around.
For us, cancelling these leaves us with a myriad of issues but the two that are hitting us the hardest right now are:
1. There are people who wanted to see the Burst & Decay set that won’t get their chance now. We’ll be back doing the loud stuff before you know it but the acoustic tours are few and far between and we know a lot of you were excited to see it.
2. We have an incredible amount of merch left. Days before we had to cancel this run, we placed an order for the 7 biggest shows of the tour. Some of it we can sell at future shows, but some stuff was specific to this tour.
But, we think we have a plan to deal with both of those issues at once. We’re hammering out details but stay tuned, please. We’re hoping to have something for you next week.
