Since their last trip to Norwich back in 2016, Arizona’s The Maine have released two incredible albums, 2017’s Lovely Little Lonely and last year’s You Are OK, and have truly perfected both their live set and wholesome crowd interactions. Enigmatic as ever frontman John O’Callaghan spent much of the time interacting with the crowd, even joining in with the lively Norwich crowd when they broke out into a synchronized boat-rowing dance that was both bizarre and wickedly entertaining to see.
The band’s set-list was a gorgeous and eclectic mix of songs old and new with stand out hits like “Don’t Come Down,” “Slip The Noose,” and “Black Butterflies and Deja Vu,” along with John free-styling some classic covers including The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” and Smash Mouth’s iconic “All-Star.”
UK rockers Sun Arcana and Aussie pop punk powerhouse Stand Atlantic set up the night perfectly and warmed the crowd up for a wholesome and emotional evening jam packed with singalongs and heart-warming interactions.
