On August 22nd, Homeshake took the stage at The Regent in Los Angeles and performed material from all four studio albums. Though the mystic synth sounds, Peter Sagar’s mesmerising falsetto and the perfectly blended bass, the crowd was lifted gracefully from the start of Homeshake’s set all the way to the unexpected encore.
This wasn’t my first time seeing Homeshake, but was definitely one of my favorite performances I have witnessed of the band so far. Homeshake didn’t lack any depth of variety, as they pulled the recognizable moods from each studio album. This placed the audience somewhere between nostalgia and dreamscape.
Most songs played came from their newest album, Helium, released under Sinderlyn Records. This album was self-recorded and mixed in the Montreal apartment of former Mac DeMarco guitarist, Peter Sagar.
Peter’s music grants us with a unique spin of RnB and chill wave, with the sometimes auto-tuned voice and classic jizz jazz Stratocaster sounds. His music fills the void for a lot of people caught in the middle and the audience certainly reflected this diversity. Arguably the best revised song of the set was “Give it to Me,” taken from the second studio album, Midnight Snack.
Homeshake will be taking a couple of months off from playing any shows, but you can catch them again in Los Angeles on November 10th at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena.
